How to Create and Test Future Scenarios in Practice

The world is changing faster than our plans. Technological shifts, new regulatory conditions, and unpredictable events can quickly alter the assumptions we rely on. The question is not whether change will come, but whether organizations—large and small—are truly prepared to face it.
In this session, we will demonstrate how scenario methodology can be used in practice: first, how to develop alternative future scenarios, and then how these scenarios can be used to test existing strategies. Together with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (Statens vegvesen), we will share experiences of how scenarios can reveal vulnerabilities, challenge established assumptions, and make strategic choices more robust in the face of uncertainty.
We will also set aside ample time for questions and dialogue with the audience, giving participants the opportunity to reflect on how this approach may be relevant for their own organizations—and how insights from the discussion can be brought back into their everyday work.
